What better way to enjoy the outdoors than with a new look for your old garden table. It's a renovation project that is easy, fun and the finished look is magnificent!






You will need:
- Picnic table
- 500ml light wood stain
- 10cm paint brush
- Artist's Paintb Brush
- 180-grit sandpaper
- Masking Tape
- Stencil Paint Roller
- Acrylic or Craft Paint: white, pale blue, fern green; yellow
- Stencil Adhesive Spray
- Gingham Stencil


Here's how:
Remove all traces of paint or varnish with paint stripper. Using a stain brush, paint the wood with 2 coats of light stain, allowing to dry and sanding lightly between coats.

Placemats: Firmly press masking tape on the tabletop to create the correct sized areas for painting 4 (or more) placemats. Using the stencil paint roller and White acrylic paint, paint inside the lines. Let dry, then apply a second coat. Let dry. Remove the tape.

Spray the underside of the Gingham stencil with adhesive and place over the background colour of the placemat. Pour a small amount of pale blue paint into a saucer. Using the stencil paint roller, apply colour to the stencil, covering the area with vertical lines. let the paint dry, then rotate the stencil 90 degrees and stencil in lines in the opposit direction, using the same paint. Let dry. To create a fringe (optional), use a craft brush to make short fine lines with the same paint colours.

Seats: These hand painted daisies add just the right touch to finish off this project. Using an artist's paintbrush hand paint the daisy design onto the tabletop and benches.
