The Lord armchair, manufactured by the office seating company Biplax which is based in Vizcaya in north Spain, is not only highly ecological but also, aesthetically speaking, cutting-edge.
Its eco credentials are amply demonstrated by the fact that 79 per cent of its components can be recycled when the chair gets so old and worn out that it’s no use to anybody. And none of the materials it’s made from are toxic or in any way dangerous.
What makes the design stand out is its hand-sewn upholstery and shiny metal base which has a distinctly retro air, making it redolent of ultra-sleek, modernist 60s offices.
It won’t surprise those familiar with Biplax’s products that this chair is impressively ergonomic. Its seat and back are made of padded foam in an elastic viscose which makes the chair extremely comfortable since it snugly moulds itself to the contours of your body.
Among the chair’s more innovative features are its height-adjustable mechanism, the sophisticated manner in which it leans back, its lumbar support and the flexibility of its seat in terms of how deep it can be (it offers five options for this).
As with the company’s other chairs, this design’s components have been tested in laboratories which conform to internationally approved standards.
Lord is a chair that’s at once good-looking and luxuriously comfortable.
