Yo-Yo Projects

Yo-yos can become enchanting accents for your favorite accessories - they'll also liven up your living space. Sew them to kitchen curtains and pillows, or glue them to a terra-cotta flowerpot for an extra bit of bloom.



Flatware Holder

Delight your host with a gift of vintage flatware, wrapped in a holder sewn by you. Just one large piece, such as a cake server, is also nice. Choose fabrics in jewel tones, or a royal blue; the silverware will glow!




Seashell Tote

Arrange the shells in a design that you like before beginning to sew, then stitch each one into place with upholstery thread, pulling tightly to secure them.




Postcard Wallets

Repurpose a collection of vintage postcards into pocket-size wallets with retro appeal.




Floral Tote

For a simple tote, cut about 10 yard-long strips of floral fabric in varying widths. Sew the strips together to make one large piece of fabric. Fold "fabric" in half, trim to desired shape, stitch sides and hem top, then finish with a large vintage button and a premade wicker handle from a crafts store.




Crafts Organizer Tote

This portable crafts organizer starts with an inexpensive tote bag. Or opt to cover cardboard with floral fabric. Stitch four same-size pockets of different patterns onto the tote or fabric. If you are covering cardboard, attach fabric to board with a glue gun. Attach fabric-strip handle and hang.
