A dreamy, pure white palette graced with pink and green accents makes an ideal backdrop for a home filled with treasured vintage and roses finds

Elegant White Dining Room

As owner of The Faded Rose, a home furnishings boutique, Patti Silverman lives and works among the things she loves most, designing interiors that are models of calm and comfort.



Mirrored Stairway

Patti Silverman made her career as an interior designer creating sleek, modern rooms for her clients, so it was a surprise even to her that she caught the vintage bug when a friend introduced her to auctions. But it didn't take long for Patti to realize her calling to open a shop of her own.

A Welcoming Parlour

When she discovered a small store for rent near her Long Island home six years ago, she opened The Faded Rose in Cold Spring Harbour, N.Y., armed with two credit cards and a keen sense of style. Soon she was travelling around the country to antiques markets and flea markets, painting and fixing up her finds, then selling them at her store and its Manhattan sister shop, which her daughter, Marci, runs.

Armoire Bar

Patti's warm, welcoming personality and devotion to vintage style have earned her loyal customers and a successful business (she's relocated to three different larger spaces in Cold Spring Harbour to keep up with demand).

Rose Painting

But for Patti, it's not about the money. "This type of design really speaks to who I am," she explains.

Feminine Kitchen

"It says 'come in; sit down.' And that's me. I love my family, and I love my customers. I just want everyone to be comfortable."

Pink and Green Accents

Patti remodelled her home to create a spacious kitchen and dining room that would accommodate her large extended family. Patti punctuates her white-on-white aesthetic with accents of pink and green. The island, made from reclaimed barn wood, is a 9-foot-long table she painted and distressed in her signature style.

Chintzware dishes reflect her passion for roses.
