Pressed flowers and leaves can be mounted in prematted frames for a classic wall arrangement. The natural beauty of pressed flowers surpasses that of botanical prints, at a fraction of the cost. Single large leaves or clusters of small pressed flowers and grasses can be arranged on rice paper for a textural background.
You will need: - Inexpensive frame with a precut mat - Extra thin glass - Glass cutters - Rice paper - Pressed flowers, leaves or grasses - Double-sided tape or craft glue - Small nails and pliers
Here's how: 1. Remove the backing, precut mat, and glass from frame. Cut extra thin glass to same size as glass provided with frame. Clean both sides of the glass thoroughly.
2. Cut rice paper to fit the backing provided with frame. Attach paper to backing at corders, using double-sided tape or dots of craft glue.
3. Arrange pressed floral materials on the rice paper, checking to see that the arrangement fits within the mat opening.
4. Position the extra-thin glass over the pressed floral materials and rice paper. Position precut mat over the glass.
5. Position the original glass over precut mat and other layers; then position the frame over the glass.
6. Turn frame over, keeping all layers firmly in place. Secure the layers into the frame, using small nails and pliers.
