Create the look of tile without the work or expense by framing a mirror with photocopied images.
You will need:
• Photocopies of prints or other images that resemble tile
• Clear spray sealer
• Ruler and straightedge
• Wallpaper paste or decoupage medium
• Mirror cut to fit the tiles
• Clear clips for hanging the mirror
• Decorative braid
• Hot-glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
Here's How:
1. Make photocopies of the images so they are all the same size. Trim away the excess paper, then spray the papers with spray sealer to protect them from moisture and soil.
2. Using a level and ruler, mark the placement of the images on the wall. Work around existing fixtures, such as lights, and leave an opening for a mirror.
3. Run a row of prints at chair rail height, approximately 80cm from the floor.
4. Tack the prints in place with tape and make any necessary adjustments.
5. Adhere the prints to the wall with decoupage medium, smoothing out any air bubbles or excess glue with a soft rag and your fingers.
6. Hang a mirror, cut to fit the opening between the tiles using clear mirror clips. Hot-glue braid to cover the edges of the prints.
